I know Chicago has a huge and interesting knitting culture. Undoubtedly, the many, many shops there help it thrive and grow. I found The Windy City Knitting Guild this week, and it lists about a metric ton of classes and events.

Babies and toddlers are fun to make clothes for because everything is done in minisizes. I crocheted a hat and skirt set for the daughter of a friend a couple of years ago. After fitting the child, who was 1 at the time, and noting what needed to be adjusted, I got busy with other things and put the outfit away.

I may have over thought this week's pattern. I wanted to make a raglan-shaped baby's cardigan in garter stitch, knit from the center-left-front to the center-right-front. Sounds easy, right.

I'm not crazy about sewing on buttons, either. Frankly, there are times that an otherwise complete garment languishes for months in my linen closet, because it has no buttons. When I do finally sew them, I do have a little trick that makes the final result more pleasant.
