Northeast Indiana reps to go on trade mission to China

Some of the region’s economic development officials are headed to China next week on a trade mission led by Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman.

The northeast Indiana delegation is scheduled to meet with business and elected officials in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Taizhou, according to a written statement released today by the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership.

John Sampson, the Regional Partnership’s president and CEO, plans to participate. This will be the fourth time his organization has joined a trade mission to China.

“Our goal is for northeast Indiana to be a top global competitor and to do that, we must continue to develop relationships on a global scale,” Sampson said in a written statement.

John Schultz, Decatur’s mayor, and Larry Macklin, executive director of the Adams County Economic Development Corp., are also scheduled to join the delegation.
