Kentucky? Why did I pick Kentucky?

Buyer's regret this morning as I give my Final Four picks a second look, now that they're committed to posterity in this morning's dinosaur editions. I shoulda done the brave thing and picked Michigan State to win it all, and I don't even have Sparty in my Final Four. I shoulda given North Carolina more consideration. I shoulda looked harder at Florida State, even though the Seminoles are the sexy pick right now and I generally loathe the sexy pick.

Oh, well. It's not like anyone's going to remember or anything.

Other thoughts:

* Speaking of sexy picks, lots of folks are picking Belmont over Georgetown as the seismic first-round upset, a 14 over a 3. I have no idea why. Apparently Belmont is really good, and Georgetown is just another overrated Big East team, of which there are many this time of year.

* Speaking of upsets, I can't believe how many people are picking New Mexico State to beat Indiana in the first round. Can't see it happening. I think IU's real problem is in the second round, when they get the Wichita State-Virginia Commonwealth winner. The Shockers, I hear, are the real deal, maybe this year's Butler.

* Speaking of this year's Butler, here's my pick: Either Wichita State or Murray State.

* Speaking of picks, here are my Danger Will Robinson teams, i.e. the teams most likely to reduce your bracket to a smoking crater: Belmont, Memphis, Wichita State, Baylor, Vanderbilt, St. Mary's.
