So, you want to know what a real scandal is in college football?
Well, it's not players selling their own personal property for tattoos or a kid selling his own jersey for walking-around money.
This, to put it mildly, is jaw-dropping. Jerry Sandusky was the architect of Joe Paterno's defense for nearly four decades. Now he's being charged with 40 criminal counts involving sexual abuse of eight boy, and the Penn State AD, Tim Curley, is being charged with perjury and failing to report the allegations against Sandusky.
Paterno himself, apparently, will not be charged. At least for now. But who knows how deeply he'll be implicated once the others start talking?
Paterno, remember, is the winningest Division I football coach in history, and one of the faces on college football's Mount Rushmore.
And right now he's only the right statement from the right person away from being hauled into court and grilled about his role in a sexual abuse case.
That, people, is a scandal. And then some.
